Did you hear the news?

BTS is performing at Gwanghwamun Square this Saturday!

Wait, seriously?

Yup! I, my friends😎, already knew that.

literal : Wow, that’s truly amazing.
natural : That’s insane!

literal : But wait, is it possible to perform in the middle of that complicated downtown Seoul?
natural : But wait—how is that even possible? It’s so hectic and crowded right in the heart of Seoul.

I guess so.

literal : I was also puzzled, but compared to the past, they changed the place to be wide open like a park now, so it’s perfect for performing.
natural : I was puzzled at first, too. But the place has changed so much. It’s more like an open park now. It’s actually the perfect spot for a massive stage.

I can imagine that.

literal : Since Admiral Yi Sun-shin and King Sejong the Great are standing right there, the symbolism will be great too.
natural : And with the statues of Admiral Yi Sun-shin and King Sejong standing right in the middle, the vibe is going to be iconic.

literal : Wow! If the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts is caught on screen behind the stage, it will look really cool.
natural : Totally! Imagine the Sejong Center in the background on the big screen—it’s going to look incredible.

You can say that again.

literal : But it’s already a crowded place. On the concert day, the crowd would be no joke!
natural : Hang on, it’s already a busy area. With the fans around the world added to the crowd, it’s going to be jam-packed!

Undoubtedly so. BTS is a global icon, after all. Fans from home and abroad will all gather.

literal : I can see your point.
natural : I guess so.

literal : Come to think of it, last week I was in the vicinity of Gwanghwamun and dropped by a place called the ‘National Museum of Korean Contemporary History’.
natural : Speaking of, I just remembered that I was in the vicinity last week and had the chance to look around the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History.

Have you guys been there?

literal : Yes, I’ve been there. That rooftop is famous for being a ‘view culinary gem.’
natural : Oh, I have! The rooftop is famous for having one of the best views of the city.

literal : That’s right. It was quite nice — seeing the bird-eye view of Gyeongbokgung Palace, studying modern history…
natural : That’s right. You can enjoy the bird-eye view of Gyeongbokgung place whild brushing up on modern history. I had some real quality time there.

literal : Oh, hearing that, I now realize that Gwanghwamun Square is actually packed with things to see.
natural : Wow, sounds like Gwanghwamun Square has more hidden gems than I thought.

literal : I know, right? Isn’t it so heart-fluttering that BTS is doing an outdoor performance in such a historical place?
natural : I know, right? So BTS is going to be performing in a place with so much history… It’s so exciting! 😍

😮‍💨 So what?

Ticket reservations are already over. (= Tickets are already sold out.)

I really wanted to go...

Oh really? Aww, what a shame.

literal : I’m so jealous of the people going to see the performance that day.
natural : I’m so jealous of whoever’s going.

literal : Wait… Goni, what’s with that meaning-packed smile?
natural : Wait… Goni, what’s with that suspicious smirk?

literal : Actually, I… succeeded in reserving a ticket, so I’m going to the concert.
natural : Well… I actually managed to snag a ticket!

literal : I’ll be there and give you a proper review!
natural : I’ll make sure to give you guys a full recap afterward.

Amazing! Really?

literal : If I had known earlier, I would’ve at least tried to reserve a ticket… so disappointing.
natural : If I’d known, I would’ve at least tried to get one.

Ah, Goni, I’m so jealous!

Don’t worry, Cozi.

literal : This concert will be streamed live on Netflix — so I heard.
natural : They’re actually live-streaming the whole thing on Netflix.

literal : Let’s just watch that comfortably at home.
natural : We can just enjoy the show from the comfort of our couches!

In general, '맛집(pronounced as [matjjip]' refers to a culinary gem where people line up to eat. Figuratively, we use the word in the form of '(noun) + 맛집' to describe a place, a brand, or a channel that does something particularly well compared to its competitors. For example, a place that has an exceptionally good view is a 뷰 맛집. A brand that is famous for coats specifically is a 코트 맛집. A Youtube channel that provides playlists with a surprisingly great selection of songs is a 선곡 맛집.
To unravel the literal meaning, 의미 means meaning, 심 means deep, and 장 means long. Put together, 의미심장 means that you are sensing there is a deeper meaning or a hidden hint behind what someone lets on or says. For example, during the above dialogue, Editor Goni put on a cheeky smile as Cozi and Sunny were exchanging regret over not having the tickets. Cozi sensed that there was something more to that smile and asked what was behind her 의미심장한 미소😏!
