literal : Wow, Goni! Your skin glow today is no joke.
natural : Wow, Goni! Your skin is absolutely glowing today!

What’s your secret method?

literal : It's the season-changing-period, so I’ve been a bit more attentive.
natural : Well, since the seasons are changing, I’ve been putting in a little extra effort.

literal : In the morning, I use toner pads to smooth out my skin texture; at night, I use a sheet mask depending on my skin conditions.
natural : In the morning, I use toner pads to smooth out my skin texture; at night, I use different types of sheet masks to tackle with my skin problems of the day.

literal : Ooh, no surprise, people who do (skin) care are different.
natural : Ooh, so that’s how the skincare pros do it.

literal : I just wash my face, take out a random toner pad and swipe it over my skin.
natural : I just wash my face and give it a quick swipe with whatever toner pad I have.

Me too.

literal : But lately, my skin has turned upside down, so it stings every time I wipe it.
natural : But lately, my skin has been acting up so much that it stings every time I wipe it with a pad.

Maybe it’s from wearing a mask all day because of the fine dust?

Actually I did notice some redness on your face, Sunny.

literal : When the skin is sensitive like that, pads with soothing effects like Houttuynia cordata (pads) or tea tree (pads) are effective.
natural : When your skin is that sensitive, pads with soothing ingredients like heartleaf or tea tree work wonders.

literal : Ah, so pads are not all the same but differ by effect.
natural : Ah, so they aren’t all the same? They actually have different effects?

literal : I learned this for the first time.
natural : That’s news to me!

literal : The embossed cotton (pads) in particular can be irritating, so buy a product that is made of soft cotton, and very gently and lightly, brush it across the skin.
natural : Plus, the embossed ones can add to the irritation. So, make sure to buy the soft-surfaced ones, and just brush one across your skin, ever so gently.

literal : So that’s why my face stung more.
natural : No wonder the stinging got worse!

literal : Because my makeup kept floating, I thought (the problem) was the dead skin and rubbed it hard with the embossed pads.
natural : My makeup has been so cakey lately, so I figured I had too much dead skin, so I scrubbed it hard with the embossed pads.

literal : Yikes, that explains why your face looked so red today.
natural : Yikes, that explains the extra redness today.

I guess so.

literal : Today, immediately, at home, I will try out exactly what Goni said.
natural : Starting tonight, I’m gonna try out exactly what Goni said.

Wait, Goni! I have a problem too, actually...

After I wash my face in the morning, I feel severe tightness as if I got an extremely dry skin, while …

… in the afternoon, my skin gets too oily. What should I do about this?

literal : Hm… It seems like your skin is the ‘moisture-lacking oily' type.
natural : Hm… Sounds like you have dehydrated oily skin.

literal : You need to remove oiliness while solving the inner dryness.
natural : You need to remove the excess of oil while locking in the moisture deep down.

I only thought about the greasiness in the afternoon, so I just kept on wiping it off. constantly, morning and night.

I guess that’s why the tightness got worse.

Oh, definitely don’t do that!

Starting tonight, albeit belatedly, try some intensive care with a hydrating sheet mask. The ones that have hyaluronic acid in them.

literal : That way, makeup applies well too the next day.
natural : It will also help getting your makeup to sit better the next day.

But, sheet masks… you have to keep them on for at least 15 minutes and stay still until (the serum is) absorbed.

literal : Is there no simpler way?
natural : Isn’t there anything... faster?

Ah, if you don’t feel up to the hustle, just try ‘Paek-to’!

‘Paek-to’? What on earth is that?

Ah, you mean stacking toner pads on the face like a sheet mask?

I’ve heard of that too.

literal : Yes, that’s right. Just 5 minutes of wearing them on is enough.
natural : Exactly! Just keep them on for about five minutes, and you’re good to go.

That would be very simple and convenient.

Plus, since the formula is lighter, even after (the liquid) is fully absorbed, the skin won’t feel too sticky. Just pleasantly hydrated.

literal : Totally. It absorbs quickly, so even if you put them on while getting to work, it is no problem.
natural : Totally. It absorbs quickly and clean, so you can even put them on while moving around getting ready for work. No problem at all.

literal : Wow, I'm learning a lot thanks to Goni.
natural : Wow, I’m learning so much today. Thanks to you, Goni.

literal : Timely, Olive Young sale starts today, so I heard. I am going to go buy some soothing pads.
natural : Guess what, I heard the Olive Young sale event starts today. Couldn’t have been at a better time. I am definitely going to pick up some soothing pads.

Oh, Really? I should go right after work, too.

literal : Goni, please come with us and help us pick products.
natural : Goni, you have to come with us and help us choose!

Of course!

literal : As they say a sparrow can’t pass by a granary, a 'co(smetics)-junkie' like me can't just ignore a sale period.
natural : Like a moth to a flame, a ‘beauty enthusiast’ like me can’t possibly skip a sale event.

📌"올리브영"(Olive Young) is South Korea’s leading Health & Beauty (H&B) store—often described as the "Sephora of Korea" or "Korea's Boots." It’s the "Holy Grail of K-Beauty" where you can explore a vast range of skincare, makeup, and wellness products all in one shop. Highly accessible with thousands of locations nationwide, it’s a daily staple for Koreans and a top-tier shopping attraction for international tourists seeking authentic K-Beauty items.

📌In Korea, we have a saying: 참새가 방앗간 못 지나친다 (참새가 방앗간을 그저 지나랴) 'A sparrow never passes by a rice mill.'
It’s the perfect way to describe a beauty junkie's reaction to an Olive Young sale event—much like a kid's to a candy store! This is a famous Korean proverb describing someone who can’t resist a temptation they love. In the past, rice mills always had grains scattered on the floor, making them an irresistible 'all-you-can-eat buffet' for sparrows. No matter how much people tried to shoo them away, the sparrows always came back. Just like those sparrows, K-Beauty lovers can’t simply walk past an Olive Young during a sale event!

📌Derived from the words 'Cosmetic' and 'Deok-hu' (a Korean term for a dedicated fan or geek). A 코덕 [Co-deok] is more than just a consumer; they are 'Beauty Detectives' who obsess over every detail, from a product’s chemical ingredients to the subtle undertones of a lipstick. For them, skincare and makeup are not just routines—they are a passion, a collection, and a field of study. It is a popular Korean slang term used to describe a serious 'beauty enthusiast' who possesses expert-level knowledge.
